Just for fun

Our cat, Boomer a.k.a. Fat Cat, decided that he would actually sit still for the camera. Usually he sees the camera and gets out of my way.
My friend's son, Harry, came over for a visit. He had great fun posing for the camera. These are all available light, converted to black and white (my favorite). He is just too cute!!!

The leaves are continuing to turn here in Northern Michigan. I was out scouting for a location to take some family photos and came across this path. Couldn't resist this photo op. I'll go back in another week or so and photograph it again with the color change.

Homecoming Parade

Here's a few shots of Friday's homecoming parade. We took the kids to the parade and then stayed for the homecoming football game. We lost (6-35), but it was a beautiful evening to spend outside at a high school football game. :D

Sunday was road trip day for the family. I had heard about this apple orchard in Northport, MI (about 90 minutes north of us) that has a large variety of apples. Sunday was beautiful weather here so we decided to take a little trip.We had so much fun. We took our time getting up there stopping at yard sales and art galleries along the way. The scenery is so beautiful in this part of Michigan. We stopped at Peterson Point Park in Northport. This park sits up on a bluff and overlooks Lake Michigan. There is a long stairway down to the beach. Of course we headed right down there--can't keep this family away from the water :D. One of our favorite activities to do as a family is rock hounding and this beach was all rock! We were so excited and began searching for Petosky stones. Dylan was the only one that found one on this trip, but of course Emma found many rocks she just couldn't leave behind. Usually we take the bucket with us to carry our rocks. However, we forgot it in the car this time. Emma carried all these rocks back up all the steps to the car. She was serious about bringing them with her :D ). After we completed our search we headed to the apple orchard. The orchard is owned by a lovely older couple who grow over 200 variety of apples. They have a large pole barn set up with the apples on tables. There is a brief description of the apples so that you know what you are getting. I think they must have had 60 varieties out when we were there. In addition, they have the largest painted bottle collection in the world---I mean seriously, you just have to see it to believe it. I think Alan and Dylan were more impressed with the bottle collection than the apples. We ended up buying 4 different varieties. Emma picked Snow, Dylan picked a variety from Turkey--can't remember the name, Alan picked Wolf and I picked Strawberry. Yumm-o!!! They are so good. Here's the link to the farm so you can check it out. http://www.applejournal.com/christmascove/farm.htmlI think its so cool that places like this still exists--oh, btw, they have great apple cider as well. Picnic in the Park

It seems like the last few days of summer are upon us. The weather was so nice last night that we decided to eat in the park by the lake. Our favorite Chinese resturant--House of Hunan--had been closed for two weeks (yes, we were going through complete withdrawl--no other place in town even comes close to their food) and finally opened back up on Tuesday so we ordered food to go. It was a little windy, but it was so refreshing to be outside. I took some pics of the kids--I'm still playing with the new lens.

I really love this pic.

One of the few times I've actually captured Dylan smiling:

Pictures.....

Tried out the new lens last night, but too tired to post pics. These are straight off the camera with no adjustments in photoshop....think I'm going to like this new lens.

Don't teenagers just love having their picture taken?

Here's Kira posing for the camera:

Paul, Terri, Cameron & Isabelle

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph this great family. Each year, when they are visiting family in the area, they call and have me come over for a fun on-location photo session. Cameron was just a baby when I started and, wow, the time sure has flown by. Here's some of my favorites from our recent session.

Wow!!! Way easier than I thought...

So, I've put off starting a blog forever because I thought it would be too difficult. Well, suprise suprise. This was too easy. I'm so excited to be here so that everyone can stay up to date on what's happening with Deb Thompson Photography and the Thompson family.

First things first. The website for Deb Thompson Photography is officially in the design phase and I hope to have it available within the next month. I've taken on an intern from a local college to build it for me (Big thanks to April P.) The website will be debthompsonphotography.com so add it to your favorites now :D

Yesterday I went out and took some pics of my beautiful daughter Emma and her "little sister" Haley:

Thanks for dropping by...stay tuned......
